Creating footnotes

You create a footnote by first inserting a reference number in the text of a document. That number is linked to the footnote's corresponding text. Footnotes allow readers to read the document from beginning to end without searching for references in the back matter.

While working with footnotes, not all WordPerfect® functions are available until you return to the body of the text.

First, you must create the footnotes that you will later edit and format.

To create a footnote

  1. In your sample file, on the first page, click at the end of the word conventions.
  2. Click Insert menuFootnote/endnote.
  3. Enable the Footnote number option, and type 1 in the box beside it.
  4. Click Create.
    When you click Create, the dialog box automatically closes.
  5. Type the following footnote text: Conventions are necessary in documentation to ensure parallel structure throughout.
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 to create consecutive footnotes for the following words in your sample file:

    In the footnote text, type

    Help Context-sensitive Help displays information that is relevant to the tasks you perform.
