Configuring parse settings

Now that you have opened the sample text file, you will use the QuickColumns^TM Expert to parse the file. The parse settings can be configured for either delimited or fixed width text files. The sample file provided with this tutorial is a delimited text file.

To configure the parse settings

1. From the Parse settings list box, select Delimited auto.
2. Click Settings.
3. In the Data type area, enable Delimited.
4. In the End of cell area, enable the Comma check box.
5. In the End of cell area, enable the Space check box.
6. In the End of cell area, enable the Semicolon check box.
   Ensure all other check boxes in the End of cell area are disabled.
7. In the End of row area, enable the Return check box.
   Ensure all other check boxes in the End of row area are disabled.
8. Enable the Treat consecutive delimiters as one check box.
9. Click OK.
