Creating and marking the concordance file

Once you have learned how to mark, define, and generate your index, you can now generate the index using a concordance file.

A concordance file is a separate list of the words or phrases that you want to appear in the index. WordPerfect® 10 searches your sample file for occurences of the words or phrases in the concordance file marks the entries manually and includes them in the index.

Using a concordance file eliminates the task of searching for, and marking entries throughout the sample file. By default, each entry in the concordance file appears as a heading in the index. However, you can also mark an entry as a subheading. The capitalization you use in the concordance file, not the capitalization in the indexed sample file, determines how the index entries display once you generate the index.
