You can find text in a document and replace it automatically. You can also find and replace the properties of text objects. You can find special characters, such as an em dash or optional hyphen. You can edit text directly in the drawing window or in a dialog box.
Additional formatting options are available for paragraph text. To apply these formatting options to artistic text, you first need to convert the artistic text to paragraph text. Likewise, you can apply special effects to paragraph text by converting the text to artistic text. Converting text may result in the loss of any formatting.
You can also convert both paragraph and artistic text to curves. By transforming characters into lines or curve objects, you can add, delete, or move the nodes of individual characters to alter their shape. For more information, see Curve objects.
When you convert text to curves, the appearance of the text is preserved, including font, style, character position and rotation, spacing, and any other text settings and effects. Any linked text objects are also converted to curves. If you convert paragraph text in a fixed-sized text frame to curves, any text that overflows the text frame is deleted. For information about fitting text to a text frame, see Format text.
