You can lock layers and the canvas to avoid accidentally changing them. When the canvas or a layer is locked, you cannot select it with the Layer Adjuster tool in the document window. You can, however, move a locked layer or shape by nudging it.

| 1 . | Select the layer or the canvas in the Layers panel. |
| 2 . | Do one of the following: |
| • | In the Layers panel, click the Lock button  . |
| • | Click the Layer options button  , and choose Lock or Unlock. |
| The Locked icon appears next to a locked layer or locked canvas in the Layers panel. |
