Position and order pages

You can position pages by dragging them to a new location in the drawing window. This option is available only in the Custom layout of multipage view. For more information about multipage view modes, see To arrange pages in multipage view. Moving pages in the drawing window does not affect the order of the pages in the document.

You can reorder pages in a document, including facing pages. Note, however, that moving only one of the facing pages in a spread may change the document structure and affect even the appearance of pages that you are not trying to move.

To position a page

1 In multipage view (View Multipage View), click the Multipage View Settings button in the Pages docker (Window Pages), and click Custom .
2 Click the Pick tool in the toolbox.
3 In the drawing window, click the page name label of the page that you want to move, and when the pointer changes to a position cursor , drag the page to a new position.

*

The position of pages is maintained from one session to the next.

When you move a page in multipage view, you can snap it to another page just like you snap objects to page elements. To enable snapping pages to page elements (edges, edge midpoints, and page center), click View Snap To Page.

You can also move a facing page by dragging its page tab to a new location in the document navigator.

To move both facing pages in a spread at once, you must first enable the Show Spreads command.
